About the tour

On this once-in-a-lifetime journey aboard the Rocky Mountaineer train, you'll experience the dramatic landscape of Western Canada through panoramic windows, from the comfort of your train. You'll journey through the Canadian Rockies, to Jasper, and onto Lake Louise. You'll explore two national parks, where you can spot the local wildlife, such as bears, and you'll end your journey in the resort town of Banff, where alpine charm awaits you.

Your incredible journey begins today with your flight from London to Vancouver.

Day 1 - Arrival in Vancouver

On arrival in Vancouver today you'll be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the city however you like. Rest in your hotel, and then go out for a walk around the city's seawall and stroll the ocean side pathways. Later, dive into the city's food scene and try out some local dishes and wines. You'll spend the night in Vancouver tonight.

Day 2 – Rocky Mountaineer

Joining the Rocky Mountaineer

This morning you'll be transferred from your hotel to the Rocky Mountaineer Station where you'll board the Rocky Mountaineer train. Choose the Silverleaf Service or the Goldleaf Service. Both options feature welcome drinks and complimentary drinks throughout your journey, an onboard storyteller to give you information about the landscape you're passing through, and panoramic views of the breathtaking scenery as you pass by. On the Silverleaf option fine dining meals are served to you at your seat, while on the Goldleaf option choose from an a la carte menu and enjoy your meals in the lower level dining room of your dome coach.

Relax and take in the incredible scenery as you pass by the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Frasier Canyon, and the slopes and rocks of the Thompson River. When you reach Kamloops, a city settled at the spot where the north and south Thompson Rivers meet, you'll be transferred to your hotel for the night.

Day 3 – Rocky Mountaineer

You'll board the train once more this morning and set off again through the Canadian Rockies. Passing the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, at 3954 metres, Mount Robson, you'll travel on past Pyramid Falls and over the Yellowhead Pass. Relax in your comfortable seat on the Rocky Mountaineer and enjoy a drink as this majestic landscape drifts by. You'll pass through the Jasper National Park and arrive in Jasper, where you'll make your way to your hotel for the night.

Day 4 – Jasper National Park

As your journey continues today, you'll make your way along the Icefields Parkway, heading to Lake Louise. Along the way you'll stop at Athabasca Falls, a beautiful waterfall that tumbles over the rocks in the Jasper National Park. Next you'll arrive at the Columbia Icefield, a dramatic glassy floor of ice, where you'll ride an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier. You'll then make a short stop at the beautiful Bow Lake, before travelling onto Lake Louise, where you'll spend the night.

Day 5 – The Icefields Parkway

As your journey continues today, you'll make your way along the Icefields Parkway, heading to Lake Louise. Along the way you'll stop at Athabasca Falls, a beautiful waterfall that tumbles over the rocks in the Jasper National Park. Next you'll arrive at the Columbia Icefield, a dramatic glassy floor of ice, where you'll ride an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier. You'll then make a short stop at the beautiful Bow Lake, before travelling onto Lake Louise, where you'll spend the night.

Day 6 – Yoho National Park

This morning you'll continue your adventure with a tour of Yoho National Park, where you'll see natural wonders like Wapta Falls, the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake, and a natural rock bridge that takes you from one side of Kicking Horse River to the other. After the tour you'll continue your journey on to Banff, a pretty resort town located within the Banff National Park. Surrounded by dramatic mountains, this is a quaint alpine village. You'll spend the night here in Banff.

Day 7 - Banff

Banff

Enjoy a free day in Banff today to explore the town at your own pace. Wander around the town at your leisure and stop for a hot coffee and let the scenery soak in. Or take a stroll around the shops and watch the local life go by.

Alternatively, you can choose an optional half day excursion that takes you to the town's most famous sites, like Sulphur Mountain, Bow Falls, and the Hoodoos, and ends with a ride aboard the Banff Gondola. You can choose to take a thrilling helicopter ride for a different perspective on the area. Or, take an exciting evening wildlife safari, or relax in Banff Hot Springs and enjoy a dip in these natural waters while you admire the alpine views.

Inbound Travel

Day 8 & 9 - Calgary to the UK

Your iconic adventure comes to an end today when you're transferred from your hotel in Banff to Calgary Airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.

Today you'll arrive back into the UK, full of memories to last a lifetime.
