Itinerary
Meeting the Tour Manager and travelling group at London St Pancras this morning, your imperial adventure starts as we board the Eurostar to Brussels. In the Belgian capital, we switch trains and travel to Frankfurt, from where we continue to Nuremberg. Our route takes us through lush countryside, past charming towns of romantic timber-framed buildings and alongside the winding Main River, arriving in the Bavarian city in the evening.
The historic city of Nuremberg has a beautiful Old Town dotted with medieval buildings and surrounded by fortifications. Some of the main attractions include the 11th-century imperial castle with its romantic turrets and an incredible ornate fountain in the main market square. On arrival this evening, we have our first dinner together at the hotel, situated close to the station.
Please Note - For departures 24/03/25 and 22/09/25 we will overnight at the Intercity Hotel Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof Sud in Frankfurt.

Great European trip. Amazing sights to see. Very good and informative local guides in each country. Hotels were of a good standard. Some days had very long travels. Tour guide was rather bossy and sharp at times. Treated us rather like children which was not good. Good job we all felt the same about her and laughed it off together. Also she got us to stations very early with lots of time hanging around which was unnecessary to add to our journey times. Very lovely trip where we met some very nice people.

I would have preferred one more day in Prague and one less in Berlin.

Well organised trip with a well organised and helpful tour guide who was always on hand to help, no matter what landed in her lap. All the rail trips had very helpful staff on board, although there were times when squashes getting on and finding our seats were difficult, due mostly to cancellations of other trains which made finding our reserved seats difficult as passengers from cancelled trains were trying to find somewhere to sit. Trains did not indicate which seats were reserved in all cases. Trains were comfortable. German trains were not always to time, mainly because of flooding in the rail network. Tour guide was never phased, though. Everything was well organised and hotels a good standard. Guides in Venice and Berlin particularly excellent. Prague guide was knowledgeable, but not of the same standard. His jokiness was irritating.

This was a well planned tour with a good balance between organised city tours and free time. The hotels were all very good and our Tour Manager coped well with a large group (too large, in my opinion) despite a few problems such as people losing tickets and passports and having seat reservations for seats that did not exist! The journeys generally went well but the Eurostar terminal at Brussels on our return was absolutely chaotic and is clearly inadequate for the number of passengers passing through, particularly with all the security checks. Other than that, a very good holiday.
